Almonds
Almonds are the tree nuts highest in vitamin E, protein and monounsaturated fats (the healthy fat that helps lower bad cholesterol LDL). They are rich in dietary fibre and essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin and other antioxidants. Including almonds in your diet can help reduce the risks of diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illnesses.
1 ounce (28g) of So Natural almonds (28g), or 23 almonds (think 1-2-3), is the recommended portion size per day.
Serving Suggestions:
Enjoy your almond nuts raw or roasted, as a snack or added to sweet or savoury dishes. They are very versatile and can be chopped and sprinkled on ice-cream, breakfast or pizza!
Storage:
Avoid keeping almonds in a warm pantry as rancidity could occur faster. Once packaged almonds are opened, be sure to put store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry, dark place and use within three months. If kept frozen they can last for up to two years The almonds may shrink and the great taste may fade, but will still be safe to consume.
